Ziploc at home, work and back to school!

My girls used to get school lunches exclusively, but lately the trend has been to bring their lunch. I may help a little but for the most part the girls select their meal items and pack their lunches themselves. I usually "audit" to make sure some healthy options are included but for the most part they are independently making their own!

Ziploc plays a big part in our school lunches and snack routine. The girls find it easy to use and the smaller sandwich bags are the perfect size for snacks. We also use Ziploc bags for box-tops (in fact box tops are ON Ziploc boxes as well), money, and small items brought back from field trips such as rocks, shells, etc..

I have used Ziploc for years. I usually don't use the slider bags but I have gotten used to using them and have to say I really like the simplicity and ease. Plus I don't have to worry about the bag not being sealed properly.

· Ziploc Brand sandwich bags
· Ziploc Brand Freezer slider bags with expandable bottom and smart-zip seal (quart)
· Ziploc Brand Storage slider bags with expandable bottom and smart-zip seal (quart)
· Ziploc Brand Containers with the Smart Snap™ Seal (medium square)

For leftovers I use Ziploc containers to store leftovers. I used to microwave at home as well, but now I simply use for storage and opt to microwave in glass or ceramic containers. I much prefer the Ziploc for storage however - the seal is air tight and it prevents premature spoilage.

Lately I have gotten into the habit of reusing Ziploc bags; I simply turn the bag inside out, wash thoroughly and let air dry - the quality of the Ziploc bags (vs. generics) provides the durability to withstand multiple washings. For you greenies, Ziploc has teamed up with Terracycle! If you want to even go more green, Ziploc now has a line of eco-friendly products named Evolve.

Right now you can download a free Fall Meals Recipe Guide at Ziploc with 2 UPC codes - click HERE! Also on the website is a VERY helpful Food Storage Guide - make sure that you bookmark this page!

Ziploc is a great way to address your food storage needs at home, at work and at school. Feel free to share your tips and tricks.

I have a gift pack similar to the one I received to give to one of my readers:

I am a new follower (mamie316) and I don't know if there are any different ways I use them. I do use Ziploc bags to keep game pieces together instead of having them thrown all over the boxes.

People from the church I attend use ZipLoc bags to make humanitarian kits that are sent to foreign countries or disaster zones in the U.S. Included are bars of soap, combs, toothpaste, toothbrushes, a hand towel, and deodorant. These are handed out to those needing assistance after wildfires, floods, hurricanes, earthquakes, etc.

I use storage bags all the time mainly for sandwiches, to break down big bags of snacks, store left overs, breakdown big packages of meat to freeze. Most unusual use is in the winter I've put the big ones on my feet before to keep them dry and warm and the water from getting to my feet if it gets into my boots or shoes.

Thank you for the giveaway. We use Zip Loc bags for so many things but, one of our favorite ways to use them is making homemade ice cream for treats.

In 1 gallon bag add 5 cups ice and 1 cup rock salt for ice cream

In quart size bag add:
1 cup whole milk
3-4 TS sugar
Vanilla extract to your liking

Tightly close the quart size zip loc and place into the gallon bag of ice/salt mixture. Zip the gallon sized bag closed with most of the air let out. Finally, shake the bags until ice cream forms! It's delicious, try it! My kids love making this.

I follow your blog as degood with google friend connect. I use ziplocks in the kitchen like everyone else, but I also use them when I am packing my kid's clothes on vacation. We usually go in the summer so I can get shorts, a tee shirt, undies and socks in a gallon ziplock. That way each morning they just have to grab a bag. We keep these in our suitcases and reuse them vacation after vacation.

I use ziploc bags to hold beads! After one has opened a hank of beads, keeping them in a ziploc bag keeps them neat! Also some bead sellers do not use resealable containers, so putting their little bags into the ziploc bag keeps the beads together!

I use Ziploc bags for a lot of things One way I like to use them is to clean my showerheads.Use any size Ziploc bag and pour a little white vinegar into the Ziploc bag. Place the bag over the showerhead and secure it with a rubber band. Allow the showerhead to soak in the vinegar for 30 minutes to remove all the gunk buildup in the water holes.
